What if I use more SMS or MMS Messages than I have in the plan?
Don’t worry, if you send more messages than are in your plan, we simply use your message rate at the end of the month. For example, on the Annual Scale Plan, send 5,000 more SMS messages than the 100,000 allotted, and you pay the unit price displayed ($0.007 + $0.003 carrier fee per message) — a cost of +$50. Also, rest assured that we’ll alert you before you exceed your plan … so you’ll never end up with unexpected charges at the end of the month.
What’s the difference between toll-free phone numbers and short codes?
Toll-free numbers are 10-digit phone numbers: (800) 412-3714. They work well for ecommerce businesses with 20k–30k SMS subscribers. And, they cost less. Short codes are 5–6 digit numbers like 57124. They’re easier to remember, especially if you use keyword opt-ins (which are also part of every plan). Both deliver messages above 98% success rates. The main technical difference lies in throughput. Essentially, short codes send faster.
Will I have marketing automations beyond abandoned cart?
Absolutely. How do you manage compliance and deliverability?
SMS is a highly regulated channel; subject to different rules, protocols, and carrier requirements. The FCC (Federal Communications Commission) governs through two main laws: the TCPA and the CAN-SPAM Act. SMS also has a set of principles called CTIA Guidelines — implemented by a trade association representing the wireless communications industry in the United States. For all its complexity, your CSM’s job is to ensure full TCPA, CAN-SPAM, and CTIA compliance while guaranteeing a high return on investment.
How is SMS revenue attributed versus email or other platforms?
Attributed revenue is the number one performance indicator of any marketing channel. Unlike other solutions — like Klaviyo for email + SMS or SMS-only (e.g., Attentive, SMSBump, Postscript, etc.) — we don’t want to inflate our value. Although 1-day “view” (receipt) and 30-day clicks make SMS look great, those bars are too low to truly count as incremental revenue. In most cases, they represent customers who would have bought from you anyway. Instead, we attribute a sale to Recart only when a customer clicks on an SMS link or uses a unique discount code.
