As a test taker, where do I sign up/register/login?
You don't need to! Proctorio integrates with most Learning Management Systems (LMS) or assessment platforms via LTI, leveraging your institution's Single Sign-On. Just log in to your LMS or assessment platform and take your exam.
How do I schedule an exam?
You don't have to schedule an exam! Your exam administrator will set a testing window, and you can take your exam anytime within that window.
Can Proctorio access the personal computer files or data of test takers?
No. Proctorio will never access your personal files or data stored on your computer.
Does Proctorio allow for bathroom breaks during exams?
Proctorio encourages exam administrators to allow bathroom breaks as needed. Our Support Agents cannot grant permission for breaks.
Does Proctorio have access to my web history?
No, Proctorio does not have access to your browser history.
Once I install Proctorio, is Proctorio always on?
No, Proctorio only runs during an exam and exam review. The Proctorio extension shield icon turns green when it's active. It can be uninstalled or disabled after an exam.
Do I lose exam time during the pre-check process?
No. The exam timer doesn't start until after the pre-checks are complete.
When does Proctorio start and stop recording?
Proctorio only records during an exam if enabled by the administrator. Recording starts after pre-checks and agreement; it stops when the exam is submitted or closed.
Who is watching me when I am using Proctorio?
Only approved representatives at your institution have access. If using Live Proctoring, a Proctorio proctor monitors, flags behaviors, and sends results for review. Your institution decides on breaches of integrity.
Does Proctorio use facial recognition?
No. Proctorio uses face and gaze detection, not facial recognition, to detect presence of faces and if test takers are looking away.
Does Proctorio utilize algorithmic decision making?
No, Proctorio only uses algorithms for face and gaze detection (if enabled). No algorithmic decision-making on exam integrity; this is left to the administrator.
Is Proctorio Spyware?
No. Proctorio clearly states required permissions. It runs as a browser extension with limited access and cannot access personal files or change system settings.
Does Proctorio sell test-taker exam-related information?
No. Proctorio does not sell test-taker data.
Where is test-taker data being stored?
Test-taker data is stored in secure, institution-chosen data centers, complying with local laws. The data center location is shown during pre-checks.
How long does Proctorio store data?
Proctorio stores recording data as long as required by the institution or law (sometimes as little as seven days). Duration is stated during pre-checks.
