HookGen is an innovative web application that leverages Artificial Intelligence and trained Artificial Neural Networks to generate completely original music hooks. It currently focuses on piano compositions, offering users the ability to select emotion (sad/happy) and note complexity (simple/complex) for their creations. Users can play, stop, and download generated MIDI files, which are royalty-free and can be used in commercial projects. The tool learns and evolves its music-generating capabilities by tracking user interactions such as play duration and skipped/repeated songs, feeding this data back into its AI engine. The creator plans to expand HookGen to include simultaneous multi-instrument track generation (drums, guitar, bass, strings, brass) in the future. It is currently optimized for desktop use.

Yes HookGen is free. Furthermore, songs generated are also royalty free, without the need to pay royalties or license fees.
Can I use the MIDI file in my own songs?
Yes, sure! Even allowed in commercial use. Just press the download button then you can use the MIDI file within any DAW including Ableton, Pro Tools and Logic Pro X.
Can I share a generated song?
Yes, all songs have a generated URL you can access, e.g., https://hookgen.com/#generated-song-id=Q7OYO7Z7SLIC5DL4.
Why is HookGen free?
HookGen is free because it uses user interaction data (play duration, skips, repeats) to feed back into its neural network. This allows the AI to learn and produce better songs over time through user engagement.
Does this work on a mobile?
No, HookGen only works on a desktop PC or Mac. It sort of works on a mobile, but the mobile screen is way too small for optimal use.
