Toonify is a comprehensive suite of AI-powered face transformation tools, created by Justin Pinkney and Doron Adler. It allows users to upload a photo and visualize themselves as a character from a CGI movie, a caricature, an emoji, or even a horror character. The platform utilizes advanced neural networks, including a convoluted combination of StyleGAN2, resolution-dependent model interpolation, and pixel2style2pixel, to reimagine facial features. Users can also edit images with slider controls for features like age, smile, and anger (available for HD models). Toonify offers various transformation models, including Toonmoji HD, Caricature HD, Comic HD, Toonify HD, Comic, Toonify Classic, Caricature, Emojify, and Halloweenify. The original Toonify Classic model is free, while other transformations require a purchased license with varying image limits for HD models. The service emphasizes user privacy, as images are discarded immediately after processing.

Can I use this model for my own project?
We offer an API, but it currently supports only the older, lower resolution model. You can find more details and documentation for the API on our dedicated API page.
How does this work?
The toonification system uses deep learning, specifically a convoluted combination of StyleGAN2, resolution dependent model interpolation, and pixel2style2pixel, all based on Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs).
How did you come up with this idea?
It started with experiments shared by Doron on Twitter, leading to the original Toonify Yourself. We then improved it to Toonify HD, building on my work in Resolution dependent model interpolation, detailed in our Arxiv paper.
How do I get good results?
For best results, use high-resolution, clear, and sharp images with your face as the main subject, facing straight toward the camera. Corporate headshots often work well. Avoid multiple faces or obstructions.
Do you store my photo?
No your image is discarded as soon as you get your result. We don't store it or use it for anything other than producing your Toonification.
My face wasn't found!
We use the open source dlib face detector to find faces; it's designed to pick up frontal faces but isn't perfect.
Where did my glasses go?
The model tends to remove glasses, as animated characters rarely wear them. It also struggles with baldness, hats, etc. For HD models, try setting the 'glasses' slider to 5 to restore your spectacles.
