In a significant boost to India's burgeoning deep-tech hardware ecosystem, Bengaluru-based Edgehax has secured ₹1.39 crore in a seed funding round. The investment, led by the angel investment platform Inflection Point Ventures (IPV), is earmarked to scale the company's manufacturing operations, accelerate product development, and expand its full-stack Edge AI hardware platform into global markets, including Singapore, the United States, and Europe. This funding arrives at a pivotal moment, validating Edgehax's vision to create a domestic alternative to established international players and bolstering the 'Make in India' initiative in a sector critical to future technological sovereignty.
Founded in 2025 by seasoned entrepreneurs Prabhu Stavarmath and Savitri Patil, Edgehax is on a mission to address a critical gap in the Indian technology landscape.[1] For years, Indian startups, OEMs, and large enterprises have relied heavily on foreign-made single-board computers and compute modules from companies like Raspberry Pi, Nvidia Jetson, and Google Coral for prototyping and product development.[2][3] Edgehax aims to break this dependency by offering a modular, integrated Edge AI hardware platform that combines compute, connectivity, and storage on a single board, designed and manufactured entirely in India.[4][1] This approach not only shortens time-to-market for hardware-first products but also mitigates reliance on volatile overseas supply chains.[5] The investment from Inflection Point Ventures, a firm that has invested over ₹800 crore in more than 220 businesses, underscores the growing confidence in India's ability to produce globally competitive deep-tech hardware.[6] Vikram Ramasubramanian, a partner at IPV, highlighted the strategic importance of this investment, stating that despite India being a major market for tech and AI, it has lacked a domestic hardware prototyping platform, forcing companies to depend on foreign boards.[6]
The seed funding will fuel Edgehax's ambition to become a go-to design and manufacturing partner for companies that require ready-to-use and easily customizable hardware. The capital will be used to scale up production, further innovate their product line, and establish a firm foothold in international markets.[2] The company has already demonstrated significant traction, having shipped over 5,000 edge gateway boards and established partnerships with more than 150 startups, OEMs, and large enterprises.[2][3] Its hardware is currently being deployed across a diverse range of sophisticated applications, including industrial gateways, humanoid robots, autonomous vehicles, drones, and defense systems that utilize NavIC-based tracking solutions.[3][7] Furthermore, Edgehax is actively fostering a developer ecosystem, having engaged over 100,000 students and faculty across 30 universities and IITs with its development kits.[2] By December 2025, the company aims to roll out 10,000 compute modules specifically for consumer appliances, signaling its intent to penetrate multiple segments of the electronics market.[2]
Edgehax's emergence is perfectly timed with a strong governmental push for self-reliance in electronics manufacturing. Initiatives like 'Make in India' and the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme are creating a more favorable environment for domestic hardware startups.[8] These policies aim to build a robust electronics manufacturing ecosystem by providing financial incentives and infrastructural support, thereby reducing the cost differential with established manufacturing hubs.
