The name "GEITje" was chosen because it had been in my mind for a long time as a name for a Dutch-language large language model. Naming in the world of language models follows interesting trends.
Why did you create GEITje?
I created GEITje because open models are needed; ChatGPT already exists; and I wanted to contribute to the development of Dutch language AI.
