Endless Visual Novel is an AI-powered storytelling game where all assets, including graphics, music, story, and characters, are generated by AI during gameplay. Players can create their own worlds, customize characters, and engage in free text dialogue. The game offers three subscription tiers: Free, Voyager, and Creator, each with increasing features and capabilities. The core AI models used include GPT-J/GPT-NeoX for text and Stable Diffusion for visuals. The game is currently in open alpha.

What is EndlessVN?
Endless Visual Novel is an AI storytelling game where all assets — graphics, music, story and characters — are generated by AI as you play. No two playthroughs will ever be the same.
How does this compare to other AI storytelling tools?
We see Endless Visual Novel primarily as a game, not a writing tool. EndlessVN is easy to jump into and use right away, without having to play around with complicated settings and adjustments. However, you do have control over how the world and story will turn out. Thus, you could also think of EndlessVN as a tool for creating Choose-Your-Own-Adventure (CYOA) visual novels.
How far along are you?
The underlying engine is playable but quite bare. We're constantly adding new features and tweaking things based on user feedback.
What model are you using to generate the story?
Text generation for EndlessVN uses GPT-J / GPT-NeoX. We will have additional larger models available in the future.
How are the visuals generated?
The sprites and backgrounds are generated using diffusion models like Stable Diffusion. In addition, the language models are utilized in prompting to generate characters and backgrounds that fit the specific story and setting. Players will eventually be able to regenerate and customize the characters and location backgrounds to their liking. It's also possible to use external, e.g. player made, assets to replace the generated ones.
How is the music generated?
We use a variety of neural nets to generate midi samples which will then be further post-processed to improve the quality. Initially the soundtrack for each playthrough/world is generated randomly, but you will have various ways of controlling it later on.

How much will it cost?
We have three subscription tiers: Free, Voyager and Creator. Players in the Free tier will be able to play a selection of public stories made by others. Players in the Voyager and Creator tiers can experience their own AI-generated adventures in worlds of their own creation. The pricing for these tiers will be adjusted during the development.
How are my stories kept private?
We use the highly secure encryption algorithm AES-256 to keep your stories secure while they are stored on our server. This means that even the NSA won't be able to read your stories, much less us. Generated assets such as sprites and backgrounds are not encrypted, but they are not linked to your account in any way. In addition, we may collect anonymized snippets and additional metadata while you are playing to help us improve the AI. This additional metadata is aggregated and none of it can be linked to your account.
Who is behind this project?
EndlessVN is developed by Augnition, a small R&D company based in Helsinki, Finland.
Will there be a multiplayer option?
We are planning to implement multiplayer, although it won't be available for the initial public alpha.
