What is Deckard?
Deckard is a personal assistant for software teams. It shows you insights related to the code you are working on and allows you to structure all your knowledge about code in one place.

How to install Deckard?
Download the desktop application and then follow the instructions in the application. After you install the desktop Deckard, you only need to install the plugin for your IDE (editor).
How do teams work in Deckard?
Your team is your GitHub name or your GitHub organisation. Click on your avatar in the upper right corner of the application to check what your current team is.
Can I test Deckard for free?
Deckard is free for open-source teams. Enterprises can test Deckard for 14 days for free.
What does Deckard do with my data?
Deckard indexes your code locally. It does not send your code anywhere. Your code remains on your machine. Only the cards are stored in the cloud so that your teammates can see them as well.
How do I share a Deckard card with someone who does not have Deckard?
First, invite them to your team. Then, open up the card, click on the share button in the top right corner of it (it will put the link in your clipboard) and paste them the link.
How do I share code links?
Click on the share icon in the top right corner of the Deckard card of your choice to copy the link to your clipboard. Then, paste it anywhere you want!
What is the name of my team?
Click on your avatar and the name of the team is just under your email. If you have more than one team, you can switch to the other team by clicking on the “Switch to team” item in the menu.
How do I invite my teammates?
Go to your menu and choose the “Invite team members”. Then, add at most 3 emails at once and we will send them invitations.
What do the sections in Deckard mean?
Coding assistant: it gives you a summary of what is important to the code you clicked on (including all cards, commits, issues, Slack discussions, Trello cards etc.)
How do I move a card to my to do list?
Open the card and click on the move to the to-do list button (bottom of the card). You can also mark the card as “read” when you read it and there is nothing more to be done.
How do I explore and understand code faster with Deckard?
Just double click on the code to see the entire story behind it in Deckard. The story includes a summary of occurrences of the code you clicked on as well all related Deckard cards, Slack discussions, Trello tickets, commits, pull requests, GitHub issues.
How do I annotate (document) code in Deckard?
Click on the green button in the bottom right corner of the application to create a card in Deckard. A modal window will open.There you can write a message, tag it (start with # to have your tag autocompleted or create a new tag) and choose a file or a directory, to which you want to connect this card to.
How is Deckard integrated to other software development tools?
Deckard has the following integrations: GitHub, Bitbucket, Gitlab, and custom git hosting, Trello, Slack, JIRA, IDEs: IntelliJ, WebStorm, PhpStorm, Android Studio, Atom, Visual Studio Code, Sublime Text, Vim, and The Web.
