Can I use Buddy app for free?

The Buddy app offers a free sample of its flashcard learning game for new users. Once completed, you’ll need to subscribe to continue playing with Buddy. You can select a subscription within the app or visit https://buddy.ai/en/prices for special discounts and offers.

How do I purchase a subscription? Are there different types?

Buddy offers a monthly and six-month subscription. Just tap on any locked Topic box within the game to choose your plan. Or get a special discount by subscribing directly through our website: https://buddy.ai/en/prices.

How do I cancel auto-renewal for my subscription?

To cancel auto-renewal on an Apple device, please use the Apple guide found here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202039. For a Google device, use the guide found here: https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/7018481?hl=en. If you purchased your subscription directly through our website, you can access your account through the Buddy email you received after subscribing. Click the “Manage Subscription” button within that email to sign into your account and cancel autorenewal.

How do I get a refund for my subscription?

Both the App Store and Google Play offer refunds within 48 hours of purchase. To request a refund for a subscription purchased through the App Store, please use this link: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204084. To request a refund through Google Play, please use this link: https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/2479637. Subscriptions purchased through the Buddy.ai website are not eligible for refunds. However, if you are having an issue with the app, please contact Customer Service for assistance.

Do I need to create an account?

We strongly recommend that you create an account after subscribing. This will allow your child to use the Buddy app across multiple devices without losing their progress. To create an account, click the ⚙️ icon to visit the “Settings” page, then click the “My Account” menu option and follow the instructions.

Why can’t Buddy hear my child when he talks?

There may be a few reasons why Buddy can’t hear you. First, it’s best to use the app in a quiet place free of background noise like music or the TV. Next, make sure you don’t cover the microphone on your phone or tablet when you speak to him. Finally, wait for Buddy’s prompt before giving your answer. He only listens when he puts his ear to the screen. If you’ve tried these tips and are still having trouble with Buddy’s voice recognition, please contact Customer Support through the Settings page in the app.

My child completed all the learning expeditions…now what?

Congratulations on being a Buddy Super-Learner! The app is constantly updating with new vocabulary flashcards, expeditions, and features, so more content is coming soon! In the meantime, you can keep learning with Buddy by changing the proficiency level on the app. Click the ⚙️ icon in the upper left-hand corner of the main page, then press the ENGLISH PROFICIENCY LEVEL menu option to choose a higher English proficiency level. The topics and expeditions won’t change, but you’ll learn to say new, more challenging English words and phrases.

What if my child doesn’t know the answer to Buddy’s question?

Don’t worry if you get stuck on a tricky question! Just tap on Buddy’s friend Sparky. He’ll give you the answer in English.

Is my child old enough to start learning English with Buddy?

Accepted Answer

Buddy.ai is designed to help kids “take their first steps” in learning English. The app is best suited for children ages 4-10, but we have users of all ages. If your child can operate a smartphone or tablet independently, they may be ready for Buddy. And studies have shown that children who begin learning new languages at a young age are far more likely to achieve fluency.

How often should my child practice English with Buddy?

Routine and repetition are the keys to learning a new language. We suggest starting with 15-30 minutes sessions three times a week with a goal of reaching five weekly lessons. Because the Buddy app plays like a fun mobile game, your child will look forward to their “Buddy time.” You can even schedule regular lessons just as you would with a live tutor. Click the ⚙️ icon in the upper left-hand corner of the app’s main page, then press the SCHEDULE menu option to get started.

Can I track my child’s learning progress?

You’ll receive email progress reports the day after every session with details about the new English words and phrases your child has learned. We also send weekly reports with their learning stats.

Can I install the Buddy app on any device?

At this time, the Buddy app can only be played on smartphones and tablets. It is not available on laptops, desktops or smart TVs.

How do I change my child’s age or proficiency level in the app?

Accepted Answer

To change your child’s age, you’ll need to delete and re-install the Buddy app. But please note that your child’s age does not affect the app’s lessons or learning content. To change the proficiency level of the app, please visit the SETTINGS page. Click the ⚙️ icon in the upper left-hand corner of the main page, then press the ENGLISH PROFICIENCY LEVEL menu option to select the appropriate level. You can choose from three options based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR): Pre A1 for new English learners. A1 for children who’ve had limited exposure to English at home or in school; and A2 for those who are actively learning English but need extra speaking practice.

How can I change the native language in the app?

To change the native language, visit the SETTINGS panel by pressing the ⚙️ icon in the upper left-hand corner of the main page. Tap the LANGUAGE menu option and make your selection. The Buddy app is currently available in Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Polish, German, Turkish, Arabic, and French (with more languages coming soon!)
