About
Geneva is an experimental genetic algorithm designed to automate the discovery of censorship evasion strategies. It evolves packet-manipulation-based techniques to circumvent nation-state level censors. Geneva operates on one side of the connection, modifying network traffic to confuse censoring middleboxes without affecting the flow. It uses a genetic algorithm to compose basic packet-level actions (drop, duplicate, fragment, tamper) into censorship evasion strategies. Geneva has been deployed against censors in China, India, Iran, and Kazakhstan, discovering new ways to defeat censorship. It is a research prototype and does not offer anonymization or encryption.
