Spirit of Satoshi is a Bitcoin-centric AI that allows users to chat, code, produce content, and learn about Bitcoin. It leverages various models, including Satoshi 7B (based on Mistral 7B), Satoshi GPT (custom GPT on OpenAI), and Code-Satoshi (a code assistant). The project also includes initiatives like the 21 Questions book and film series, and a Lightning-enabled Crowdsourced LLM development kit (LECS-LLM). The AI aims to make Bitcoin more accessible and uses Bitcoin to make AI more open.

Why is it called ""Spirit of Satoshi""?
Spirit is another way of saying """essence""". The name Spirit of Satoshi thus refers to the essence or idea of what Bitcoin is and represents. It's also an homage to the creator, and because this model is being built alongside the community, we can say that ""Satoshi is all of us."""
What do you envision Spirit of Satoshi being used for in the future?
It's very early days. The aim is to have a more truthful and useful version of ChatGPT. We anticipate it will be useful for anyone that wants to learn about Bitcoin. It could become a tool for onboarding and education, or even a Bitcoin-influencer on Twitter!
Is Spirit of Satoshi trained to speak like Satoshi Nakamoto, or with the understanding of modern Bitcoin maximalists?
When you fine-tune a model, you are training the style of linguistic output. We’re focusing on training and tuning it on a broad corpus of text, so it will speak like an average of Bitcoiners and Austrian Economists. You will also be able to prompt it to take on a style.
Why make an AI that's Bitcoin-biased? Wouldn't a perfectly neutral bot be better?
It’s impossible for biased humans to create an unbiased AI. Spirit of Satoshi is acting as a counterforce, to speak truths as understood by those who choose to verify rather than trust, and help guide new Bitcoin users.
I've heard that Bitcoin maximalists are toxic. Is Spirit of Satoshi going to be that toxic as well?
People often label those whose ideas they don’t like as ""toxic""". We are focused on training the model on data that is as factual as possible, with embedded biases of the Bitcoin, Austrian, and Libertarian communities. Some responses may come out brutal, harsh, and perhaps even ""toxic.""
Will Spirit of Satoshi be able to answer my questions about any topic, or just things related to Bitcoin?
You will be able to ask it anything, and it will likely respond with something. Our focus is on having it produce outputs that are as accurate and useful as possible within the domains we’ve trained it on. Longer term, the size and breadth of those domains will increase.
What language model is SoS based on (Open AI, Llama, Prem, etc.)?
We are currently experimenting with a number of Open Source models, including Falcon, Llama, Red Pyjama and Mosaic ML. We have not chosen a final base model or architecture.
How does the model ensure the accuracy of the answers it provides?
AI Models are essentially probability machines. The only way to ensure accuracy is to do more and more training, until you have good enough probabilities that the words the model will produce will be closer to fact. We will use data retrieval augmentation.
How much does it cost to use SoS?
This is a work in progress. We will look to have a free tier, and then price for prompts or usage in Sats. We are Open Sourcing the model also, so you can download it and run it yourself.
What should I keep or discard in ""Don’t trust, verify""?
The data in this section is being used for training the model through a method called Fine Tuning. Fine Tuning is about linguistic style, not the specific data that’s inside the model.
