Protocraft AI is a desktop AI studio designed for software development, data analysis, creative exploration, and prompt automation. It supports various LLMs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google AI, etc.) and image generation models (DALL-E, Stable Diffusion). Key features include direct file integration, code editing tools, and template creation for prompts. All data is stored locally, with encrypted API key storage for enhanced security. FAQs
Is Protocraft only for software engineers?
Protocraft is a general-purpose desktop AI studio. It provides tools useful for working with files, and its features are geared towards improving and accelerating the software development process.
Why would I use this and not Copilot / Cursor / etc?
Protocraft isn't an IDE or replacement for similar tools. It speeds up initial code building and updating, allowing you to then refine details in your code editor. Use each tool for its strengths; Protocraft helps iterate on broader code creation and updates.
What information do you collect?
We store your email (linked to your license) for account access, payment receipts, and updates. Activation date/time is also stored. No personally-identifiable information is collected or shared with third parties. We collect anonymized, aggregated daily active user counts and website visitor stats (via Google Analytics).
What does my license grant me?
Your license grants perpetual access for one user/device to the current version and updates for 1 year from purchase. It's needed for commercial use but not evaluation. It doesn't grant access to third-party AI models; you need your own API keys.
Do I need to bring my own API Keys?
Yes, or use your own LLM and/or image generation software.
Which AI Providers do you Support?
Currently OpenAI, Anthropic, Google AI, OpenRouter, and Venice AI for LLMs, and OpenAI, HuggingFace, and Venice AI for image generation. You can also bring your own LLM compatible with the OpenAI library. More providers will be added.

Where are my chats / images / files / data stored?
They are stored on your computer, in the user data directory for the Protocraft application.
How are my API Keys / LLM Configurations Stored?
They are stored in an encrypted configuration file locally, in your user data directory. Note: Some Windows installations may store this in plaintext.
How do I export or import my workspaces / chats / chat history?
Export via the 'Data Export' button in Settings; import via 'Data Import'.
How do I wipe my saved API Keys / LLM Configurations?
Click 'Reset Configuration' in Settings. This resets configurations, requiring license key re-entry.
What should I do if I encounter a bug?
Email support@protocraft.ai or contact us via our Discord support channel. Provide details, error messages, and steps to reproduce the issue.
