How many Images do I need submit for my final collection?
For Round One, you need to submit 5 images that best showcase your collection. We recommend building the full collection first and then submitting your top 5 images to ensure that you are not rushed should you be approved. In the subsequent stage, you will be required to submit a total of 20 catwalk images, 5 accessory close-ups, and 5 BTS (Behind the Scenes), street style, or front-row images.
How should my collection look?
Your collection is an expression of your creativity, but it must adhere to specific criteria. It needs to be cohesive and exhibit a unified look as one collection. It should not heavily draw inspiration from another designer. Runway images should distinctly resemble runway presentations. The focus should be on the collection and the products, and not solely on photography aesthetics. Remember, visually appealing images do not necessarily equate to true fashion; it’s about the collection itself.
Can I submit more than the required amount of images?
No more than 30 images. No more than 5 Videos
How should the runway look?
The runway should be viewed as an extension of the collection. A fashion show primarily centers around the clothes, but effective creative direction takes into account how the runway’s appearance can enhance the overall presentation of the looks that are showcased on it. It’s a holistic approach that combines the design of the collection with the atmosphere and aesthetics of the runway to create a memorable and impactful fashion experience.
Can I use other tools that are not AI to assist my process?
Absolutely! We welcome all creative mediums, but it’s important to emphasize that your final outcome should predominantly be AI-generated. This is the central focus and purpose of the competition, where the integration of AI technology into the creative process plays a key role.
Will there be a IRL showcase?
We will be hosting an in-person event in Milan, showcasing Maison Meta’s favourite semi-finalists during the Photo Vogue Festival from the 16th of November to the 19th of November. If you are unable to attend in person, there will be plenty of photos available, and we may also go live on our Discord channel at some point to provide a virtual tour of the space.
Can I create a video for my collection?
Yes! We would love to see more AI-generated video content this season.
What are the specific file format and resolution requirements for image and video submissions to the competition?
All images must have a 9:16 or 1:1 aspect ratio and a minimum resolution of 1080p HD. They must be in either PNG or JPEG format and have a maximum file size of 2 MB. Videos can be uploaded in GIF, Webm, MP4, or MOV formats, with a maximum file size of 20MB and an aspect ratio of either 9:16 or 16:9.
Can I participate as part of a team and also submit my own individual entry separately?
Teams are allowed to join; however, each team entry will count as one entry for every member of the team. You are NOT permitted to have your own entry alongside a team entry. If we discover that this has happened, we will disqualify both you and your team’s entry.
Haute couture or Ready to Wear?
Your collection is an expression of your creativity; however, it must be marketable to a wider audience. We recommend that your looks should lean towards ready-to-wear rather than couture. As there is potential for your collection to be manufactured and sold in real life, we suggest incorporating a few standout ‘Hero’ pieces that may be more abstract, alongside less abstract and more marketable silhouettes. It’s essential to understand your target demographic and what they might be interested in.
