Emu Edit is a multi-task image editing model developed by AI at Meta. It achieves state-of-the-art performance in instruction-based image editing by training on a wide range of tasks, including region-based editing, free-form editing, and computer vision tasks, all formulated as generative tasks. The model utilizes learned task embeddings to steer the generation process. Emu Edit also supports few-shot adaptation to new tasks via task inversion, allowing it to quickly adapt to unseen tasks with limited labeled examples. A new benchmark is released with seven different image editing tasks for rigorous evaluation of instruction-based image editing models.
