Jason Chuang's research focuses on the design of interactive visualizations and statistical models to enable people and algorithms to work in tandem to yield insights from complex data. Projects include topic model diagnostics, sentiment classification and visualization, topic model visualization (Termite), design of model-driven visualizations, mapping intellectual changes in academia, frog gene visualization, descriptive keyphrases, color categories, interactive machine translation, word vectors for exploratory text analysis, multilingual news sharing on Twitter, history of computational linguistics, and semantic text zooming.
