What is Casablanca?
Casablanca enables authentic video calls. Our purely software-based solution generates digital eye contact in real time to create a natural face-to-face conversation experience. We use GAN technology to not only keep the gaze on the counterpart (i.e., on the video camera), but also to align the entire head at the ideal angle. This way, we establish real eye contact while the user's facial expressions and gestures remain natural and realistic.

Does Casablanca work with all video call solutions?
Yes! You can use our solution with any tool you like. Whether Zoom, Teams or something else: After you have installed our software, simply select the "Casablanca Virtual Camera" instead of your system camera in your video conferencing software and you're ready to go - regardless of your provider.
Can the user do something else (like look at their phone) and still appear present in the call?
Absolutely not! The motto of Casablanca is "Authentic Video Calls". Our solution only works if the user is actually looking at their conference screen. If they turn their gaze away, this is also preserved in Casablanca. In this way, the authenticity of the conversation is ensured - no artificial staring or unavoidable gaze. Eye contact is then made when it would also be made in an analog conversation.
Does Casablanca also work with two screens?
In most cases, multiple screens do not pose any problems for our software. However, in individual constellations we cannot yet guarantee the error-free performance of our display performance.

You must have already started the Casablanca software before using it as a camera source in your video conferencing tool. If our software is not running and you still start a video conference, a black screen will be displayed if you select the "Casablanca Virtual Camera" as the image source there. You will also see this error message: "You have not yet started Casablanca."
Why do I get an error message when I try to install the new version of Casablanca?
Before you can install a new version of Casablanca, you must close the current Casablanca software. Once you have done so, you can install the latest version of Casablanca and experience authentic video calls.
How do I select Casablanca as the camera source?
The video output of Casablanca is captured as a new camera source in your video conferencing tool. The camera source will then be displayed in your video conferencing tool as "Casablanca Virtual Camera". Make sure you start the Casablanca software before starting the video call.
I have installed Casablanca on my Mac, but the software does not start when I open it. How can I fix this?
If the Casablanca user interface does not start correctly on your Apple device, you probably did not correctly unlock the Casablanca virtual camera during installation. Follow these steps to unlock it after installation: * Open the Casablanca application. You will now only see the "Terminal" window. * Click on the Apple symbol in the upper left corner of the screen. * Now open your System Preferences. * In the "System Preferences" window, open the "Security and Privacy" section. * Click on the lock symbol to make changes to these settings and enter your password. * Make sure that apps from the App Store and from identified developers are allowed (second option). * Click on "Allow Casablanca Virtual Camera". * Close this window and the Casablanca app. * Now restart the Casablanca application and you're ready to use Casablanca.
