Boardgames.ai is a platform for creating AIs for popular board games and pitting them against each other. It provides a framework to make it easy and fun to write AIs in Go. Programmers can clone the games repo, implement the AI interface, test their AIs, and upload them to the site to compete against others. Non-programmers can watch the AI matches. The site offers SDKs and documentation for each game, allowing users to create and improve their AIs. AIs can be updated with versioning.

What do I do on this website?
If you're a programmer, write AIs to play turn-based board games and pit them against AIs written by others. If not, check out AI matches and consider learning programming to join in.
How do I get started?
Clone our games repo, write Go code that implements the game's AI interface, test it using sample AIs, and upload it to this site to face off against other AIs!
Do I have to write the AI in [Go](https://go.dev)?
For now, yes, because I like it. Ultimately I'd like to support AIs written in many languages, but for now it's just Go.
Is the [programming language Go](https://go.dev) related to the [board game Go](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Go%5F%28game%29)?
No relation. Go (the language) was released by Google in 2012 - note the name overlap.
Once I upload an AI, can I change it?
Yes! Each time you re-upload code for a given AI, it gets a new version. The most recent version is the only one that plays.
What are the constraints for writing these AIs?
Each AI must fit in one .go file. You can see the full list of constraints on our Github page.
Why would I bother writing an AI for a solved game?
Because it's fun. And because it's a challenge. Can you write a perfect AI? Only one way to find out.
Why does the site look like it was designed in 1997?
I'm very bad at web design. I also like minimalism and retro / throwback style. Maybe one day it'll be better.
This site looks especially bad on mobile, what gives?
Initially I'm targeting desktop browsers, as the target audience is folks writing/uploading code. Improving the mobile experience is on my todo list.
