About Transitional Forms
Transitional Forms is an innovation-focused studio that moves beyond static generative AI to create emergent entertainment through live, interactive simulations. Their primary offering, Simia, is a generative AI framework that allows users to create, remix, and export video simulations in real-time. Unlike standard video generation tools that produce fixed media after a significant processing delay, Simia runs live simulations based on user prompts. This technology is designed to enable SocialTV, a new medium where the boundaries between creators and viewers blur through dynamic, reactive content that evolves on the fly. The tool functions using a patent-pending framework and leverages AI agents as core collaborators, a methodology the company has pioneered since 2018. The platform is optimized for mobile accessibility, allowing users to generate complex simulations directly from their smartphones. This workflow includes prompt-based creation, the ability to remix existing simulations to change their direction, and tools for exporting the final product for social sharing or professional use. The underlying technology is supported by extensive R&D, including four published research papers and collaborations with major research laboratories like Google AI and DeepMind. Simia is best suited for social media creators, digital artists, and entertainment studios looking to pioneer new formats of interactive storytelling. It also serves as a powerful prototyping tool for developers in the gaming and film industries who require real-time generative capabilities for narrative testing. By integrating reinforcement learning and large language models into a cohesive simulation engine, it provides a unique environment for anyone interested in the future of SocialTV and interactive digital experiences. What sets Transitional Forms apart is its deep academic and professional pedigree within the entertainment industry. The founding team holds multiple prestigious awards, including Emmys and Webbys, and has a history of world-firsts, such as the first neural network film and the first livestream managed entirely by a large language model. Unlike many competitors that focus solely on visual fidelity and static output, this tool focuses on the behavior and agency within the simulation, creating a more interactive and alive experience for the end-user.
