AI decolonial Manyfesto is a collective effort by around two dozen experts in AI, social sciences, humanities, and human rights from diverse backgrounds, who convened over 16 months to challenge the Western-centric biases inherent in the language, development, and governance of AI technologies. The Manyfesto questions foundational terms like 'artificial' and 'intelligence', aiming to undo the colonial erasure of non-Western ways of being and knowing. It rejects the idea of a single global framework for AI governance, criticizes Western-normative 'ethical' AI principles as half-measures, and advocates for decoloniality that includes reparations for material and epistemic injustice. The initiative seeks to empower historically marginalized communities to define and build their own socio-technical futures, emphasizing relational humanity and the integration of diverse cultural value systems into AI design. It serves as a forum for learning and exchange, countering the creation of "algorithmic truths" that reinforce domination and erase alternative knowledge systems.
