About
ImprovBot is a project that uses an artificial neural network ("The Bot") to generate show blurbs for a virtual arts festival. It was initially conceived as a live show for the 2020 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, involving collaboration between researchers, the Improverts comedy troupe, and the UK's National Supercomputer. Due to the cancellation of the 2020 Fringe, ImprovBot was released online as a virtual festival. The Bot analyzes data from previous Fringe programs to create new show descriptions, which are then used as prompts for improvisational performances by the Improverts. The project aims to explore the intersection of human creativity and AI, and to provide a playful and engaging online experience during a time of digital connection.
